20 AIP Slow Cooker Recipes (Whole30) - A Girl Woth Saving (1)

Raise your hand if you love your slow cooker! As someone who makes more of her family’s food from scratch, there is nothing better than dumping a bunch of ingredients in a pot, hitting a button and then walking away.

A couple of hours later the fragrant smell of dinner will fill my house and dinner will be done with only a few minutes of thought on my part.

For anyone who is on or just starting the diet, you know that AIP is the most hardcore of all the diet.

Forget about eating out. It’s impossible.

When you take into account all of the foods you can not eat – dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, nightshades, grains, and gluten – there is no way you can guarantee your food was not cross contaminated at a restaurant.

So that means more time in the kitchen cooking and well, using your slow cooker is almost as good as a personal chef (almost).

FAQs

Is Whole30 AIP compliant? ›

Whole30, echoing the principles of the AIP (autoimmune protocol) diet, emphasizes nutrient-dense whole foods and eliminates sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes, soy, dairy, and additives.

Does slow cooking work? ›

Yes, if you use them correctly. The slow cooker cooks foods slowly at a low temperature, generally between 170 and 280 degrees F, over several hours. The combination of direct heat from the pot, lengthy cooking and steam, destroys bacteria making the slow cooker a safe process for cooking foods.

Why is coffee not allowed on AIP? ›

While you might be inclined to believe that it's caffeine that's eliminated here, it's actually the coffee bean itself! The name bean is misleading, however, because coffee is technically a seed of the Coffea plant. So, that means, like other seeds, coffee is eliminated in the temporary elimination phase of the AIP.

What diet is closest to AIP? ›

The AIP diet resembles the paleo diet, both in the types of foods allowed and avoided, as well as in the phases that comprise it. Due to their similarities, many consider the AIP diet an extension of the paleo diet — though AIP may be seen as a stricter version of it.

What foods should not go in a slow cooker? ›

10 Foods You Should Never Make in a Slow Cooker
  1. Raw Meat.
  2. Seafood.
  3. Pasta.
  4. Rice.
  5. Delicate Vegetables.
  6. Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts.
  7. Dairy.
  8. Wine and Other Liquor.

What are the disadvantages of a slow cooker? ›

What are the disadvantages of a slow cooker? Slow cookers only apply heat to the bottom of the crock, which cuts down on their ability to reduce liquids and brown foods, and develop flavor the same way a Dutch oven or pressure cooker can.

Is Whole30 an anti-inflammatory diet? ›

Whole30 is essentially a consumer-friendly version of an elimination diet that cuts out potential food sensitivities for 30 days, as well as drastically decreases inflammatory food intake and increases key anti-inflammatory foods like fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Is Whole30 considered paleo? ›

The Whole 30 and Paleo Diet are very similar. The Whole 30 is more restrictive than the paleo diet. For example, no sugar is allowed in the Whole 30 but only refined sugar is cut out of the Paleo diet. The Whole 30 is meant to be consumed for 30 days, whereas the Paleo diet is designed to be a long-term diet.

Can you have nightshades on Whole30? ›

*Ideally, pastured or 100% grass-fed and organic. Also avoid: all peppers (jalapeno, serrano, etc.); spices in the nightshade family (paprika, cayenne, chili powder, curry, red pepper, etc.); NSAIDs (Advil, aspirin, etc.)

Can you eat beans on an AIP diet? ›

Core AIP excludes all beans and legumes like chickpeas, green beans, peanuts, peas, soybeans and all soy derivatives like tofu and soy sauce. Modified AIP excludes peanuts, soybeans and all soy-based foods and products, but allows beans and other legumes.
