Glazed Eggnog Donuts {perfect holiday recipe!} - Pumpkin 'N Spice (1)

Eggnog. Most people either love it, or hate it.It’s one of those flavors that seems to pop up around Thanksgiving and sneak into those tasty baked goods.

I am definitely on Team Eggnog. Although I can’t drink too much of it because of its rich flavor, I love to sip on a glass during the holidays.

I also love using it in baked goods, such as these White Chocolate Dipped Eggnog Cookies. I made these cookies last Christmas and they quickly became a popular holiday recipe on Pumpkin ‘N Spice. Plus my Glazed Eggnog Bread— it’s too good not to mention.

And then there are these Glazed Eggnog Donuts.Everyone loves donuts, so now you can enjoy the classic flavor of eggnog packed into a delicious treat.

And even if you don’t like eggnog, I guarantee you’ll love these donuts. The flavor is subtle and not overpowering, so you taste the sweetness from the eggnog and warm spices from the nutmeg. Combine that with a delicious eggnog glaze, and these donuts were made for you.

What Makes These Eggnog Donuts So Great

  • These Christmas donuts can be made in one bowl, which means it’s easier on clean-up, and less dishes!
  • They bake up soft and moist, and are perfect for Christmas morning or dessert!
  • The glaze lends a little extra eggnog flavor – enough to taste it, but not enough to be too much!

What’s in Eggnog Donuts?

These Christmas donuts don’t call for any special ingredients (besides eggnog, that is!). Here’s all you’ll need to make this recipe:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Granulated sugar
  • Baking powder and baking soda
  • Salt and nutmeg
  • Eggnog
  • Egg
  • Coconut oil
  • Vanilla bean paste (or extract)
  • Powdered sugar

How To Make Eggnog Donuts

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. Slowing beat in the eggnog, egg, coconut oil, and vanilla extract using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer with fitted paddle attachment.
  3. Spoon the mixture into a large ziplock back and cut the tip of one of the bottom corners. Pipe the mixture into the prepared donut pans.
  4. Bake until donuts are slightly firm.
  5. Remove the pans from the oven and let the donuts cool completely.
  6. Take each donut out of the pan and dunk it halfway into the glaze. Repeat with the rest of the donuts and let glaze set.

Can I Freeze Eggnog Donuts?

I haven’t tried freezing these before, so I’m honestly not sure how they would turn out. The donuts might not have the exact same texture but I don’t think the taste would be affected. If freezing, omit the glaze and add it once the donuts have been thawed.

Can I Use Non-Alcoholic Eggnog?

Of course! Use whichever kind you prefer.

Recipe Variations

  • Replace 1 cup of all purpose flour with 1 cup of whole wheat flour to give these Christmas donuts a healthy twist!
  • Add a little rum extract to the glazeto bring in even more holiday flavors!
  • Sprinkle some finely chopped nuts on top of the donuts while the glaze is still wet to give a little crunch to this treat! Pecans or walnuts would work well.

Tips for Making Christmas Donuts

  • Spray the donut pans with non-stick spray really well. You may also want to add a little flour on top of the spray to help the baked donuts come out easier.
  • Spooning the batter into the bag makes it easy to pipe it into the pan, with less mess than using a spoon. Don’t snip the corner of the ziploc bag before spooning the batter in though! Otherwise it will spill out.
  • Hang on carefully to the donuts while dipping them in the glaze, otherwise they’ll fall in!

One bite of these Glazed Eggnog Donuts and you’ll love the sweet taste and soft texture. These goodies are perfect to enjoy throughout the holiday season and will be the hit of your breakfast or dessert table!

These look amazing! Do you think they could be made ahead of time, frozen, and defrosted Christmas eve night so I could glaze & eat them Christmas morning?

    • Gayle Reply

Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by! I haven’t tried freezing these before, so I’m honestly not sure how they would turn out. These donuts might not have the exact same texture but I don’t think the taste would be affected. I hope this works out for you if you try it!

Thanks for the donut love, Rachelle!

  30. Mariah @ Mariah's Pleasing Plates Reply

Okay so I LOVE the flavor of Eggnog but hate the texture! It is just too thick, so these doughnuts are perfect for us because I get all of the yummy flavor without the egginess (is that a word? haha)

    • Gayle Reply

Haha egginess is definitely a word! 🙂 Thanks for the donut love, friend!

  31. MasterCakes Reply

Bring on the holiday eggnog! These donuts look festive and bright and perfect for celebrating. Great idea to bake them rather than fry them.

    • Gayle Reply

      Thanks for the sweet comment!

  32. Rachel Reply

Recommend melting the coconut oil with the eggnog in a sauce pan on low that way the coconut oil doesn’t clump up again when mixing in the eggnog with it. Doughnuts are in the oven now; cant wait to try them!

    • Gayle Reply

Thanks for the tip, Rachel! Hope you love these!
