A WEDDING AT THE NEW HAVEN LAWN CLUB

Kate and Kevin’s summer wedding at the New Haven Lawn Club was an absolute dream! New Haven, Connecticut has some pretty amazing spots to celebrate a wedding day, but the Lawn Club is definitely one of my favorite ballroom venues around. Not only is it a historical landmark with plenty of fantastic portrait locations, but the New Haven Lawn Club also has the most STUNNING art-deco decor, something I can never get enough of!

Arturo and I started with Kate and her bridesmaids as they got ready for the day ahead. She was the epitome of a classic bride with a timeless style (just wait until you see her bridal portraits!!). Kevin and the guys were in the next room, relaxing and hanging out before the festivities began.

Kate and Kevin shared a sweet first look just outside the front entrance of the New Haven Lawn Club. The whitewashed brick exterior served as such a wonderful backdrop to their photos! After some romantic portraits (which these two ROCKED, by the way!), the bridesmaids and groomsmen joined us outside for some group shots.

Kevin and Kate’s wedding ceremony took place inside the Lawn Club’s grand ballroom which has the most beautiful natural light! White flower petals lined the aisle, adding an extra romantic touch to the evening. After exchanging vows, Kate and Kevin shared their first kiss as wedding guests clapped and cheered for the newlyweds!

The new Mr. & Mrs. were celebrated all night long with endless singing, dancing, and a packed dance floor. These guys are so, so loved and it was truly evident with all the joy that surrounded them that day! Arturo and I were so thankful to be a part of such a special day for Kevin and Kate!

THE LOVE STORY

Kate and Kevin both went to UConn, but met studying abroad in London during the Olympics in summer 2012. On the second night, the two started dancing together when they were out and ended up kissing in the middle of the dance floor! Kevin and Kate shared amazing experiences together on that trip; they toured Buckingham Palace, rode the London Eye at sunset, and even traveled to Dublin after missing a flight! After it was all over, Kate decided to stay in London for an extra week. She and Kevin had Skype calls, texted, messaged each other on Facebook, and did everything they possibly could to stay in touch.

That September, Kate and Kevin both returned to UConn, and continued hanging out just like they had done in London. Soon after, they officially started dating! The following May, Kate graduated and went off to grad school on Long Island as Kevin finished his senior year at UConn. After having a long-distance relationship for the two years Kate was in grad school, she and Kevin moved into their first apartment together! In 2017, they were ready for another big adventure and decided to move to Boston. In these first five years of their relationship, Kevin and Kate enjoyed many fun-filled vacations together, continued to attend UConn sports games, Yankees vs. Red Sox baseball games, all while growing into their own little family together.

One summer weekend last year, Kate and Kevin planned a last minute getaway to Portland, Maine. Kevin decided that would be the perfect time to propose! In a matter of days, he asked his grandma if he could use her beach house for the weekend and bought an engagement ring. On the day Kevin wanted to pop the question, he imaged doing so at spot with a beautiful sunset they’d seen before. Unfortunately it was a cloudy evening, so his plans for that day were foiled by the weather. The next day Kate and Kevin went to all the best Portland breweries and shared an incredible dinner together. After dinner, Kevin led Kate on an aimless walk around downtown before finally suggesting they take a picture at the same spot they had done so on their anniversary the year before. Once they were there, he interrupted a couple sharing an ice cream cone to ask for a photo, got down on one knee, and asked Kate to be his wife!

Congratulations Kate and Kevin! Your day was beautiful, and we loved being a part of it! Wishing you many years of love and happiness ahead!
